Some famous French soccer players:

 

• Raymond Gigot, Sergeant in the 24th Infantry Regiment, killed at 30 years old, on September 25th 1915 in Neuville St. Vaast (Pas-de-Calais), during the offensive in Artois. He had been selected once for France (Belgium-France in 1905

• Raoul Gressier, Warrant Officer 110th Infantry Regiment; he was killed at 29 years old on October 6th 1915 in Tahure (Marne). He played one match (Denmark -France at the Olympics in 1908), as half center. He played at the R.Club of Calais.

• Emile Lesmann, 2nd class soldier in the 28th Infantry Regiment; killed at 23 years old, between 13 and 18 September 1914 at Loivre (Marne) at the end of the Battle of the Marne. He played once for France (France-Belgium in 1912, 1-1), as a right winger. He also played at the Youth Athletic de Saint-Ouen.

• Eugene Petel, 2nd class 51th Infantry Regiment; died after being injured, (25 years old) on September 22nd 1914, at the temporary hospital No. 39 in Orléans (Loiret). He was selected once (France-Belgium in 1910, 0-4), while playing at AS Alfortvillaise.
