Quentin Roosevelt Fountain

In the little village of Chamery stands the fountain erected by the family of First Lieutenant Quentin Roosevelt, youngest son of President Theodore Roosevelt, killed in a dogfight over the area on July 14th 1918.

Here is the grave of Quentin Roosevelt buried, with the military honors, by the Germans troops on July 15, 1918. He was 21 years old.


On September 22nd, 1955, the remains of the pilot were transfered at the American Cemetery of Colleville in Normandy at the request of his family.

He was buried together with his brother, Théodore Quentin Roosevelt Junior killed during the second World War (1944) in Normandy.
